Rectifier and LED driver heat sinks
A cast heat sink combines a mounting base and a fin field in one part, which is often cheaper than extrusion plus machining once volumes rise, and lets the fins follow the shape of the product.
We cast rectifier heat sinks, LED driver plates and finned heat sinks in as cast and coated finishes. The mounting face for the semiconductor or board is the critical feature, so it is kept flat and clean, and machined where the drawing requires.
Process, alloys and indicative ranges
| Process | HPDC |
|---|---|
| Typical fin thickness | 1.2 to 2.5 mm at the tip, indicative |
| Alloys | ADC12, LM6 where thermal performance is a priority |
| Supplied | As cast, faced, or coated |
Ranges are indicative for this kind of part. We confirm process, machine, alloy and tolerances for your design at drawing review.
Critical features and how we check them
| Mounting face flatness | Surface plate check in house; machined when specified |
|---|---|
| Hole positions | Functional gauges in house |
| Fin completeness | Visual inspection in house, at every stage |
| Internal soundness under the mounting face | X ray in house during new component development |
Machining and finishing options
- Facing of the mounting area
- Drilling and tapping
- Coating through a partner
Questions that sharpen your quote
- Thermal resistance target, or the heat load and allowed temperature rise?
- Is the mounting face machined or used as cast?
- Insulation or coating requirements?
