Responsible manufacturing
Lower impact castings, by design
What we do today to reduce the environmental impact of the castings we make, and the data we provide to customers who report on it.
In place today
What we do now
Electric melting
Electric resistance melting and holding furnaces, with no fuel fired furnaces. There is no combustion by product in the melt, which also means less hydrogen pick up and lower porosity.
Reusable packing
Castings travel in reusable crates and polypropylene boxes used many times over, replacing single use cartons wherever your logistics allow. Perforated boxes reduce material use where cartons are needed.
Lead checked and reduced
Lead content is checked by spectrometer on every alloy batch. We specify low lead alloys to reduce lead, and eliminate it wherever the specification allows.
Data for carbon reporting
Production data to support UK and EU CBAM declarations and customer carbon reporting, so importers are not forced onto default values.
Planned
What comes next
Renewable energy capacity of about 90 kW is planned at the plant. We will publish it here when it is installed, together with any figures we can verify.
