Process, alloys and envelope
How these parts are usually made
Typical routes for this family. The right process, alloy and limits for your part are confirmed at engineering review.
| Process | Alloys commonly used | Indicative envelope | Typically chosen for |
|---|---|---|---|
| High pressure die casting | ADC12, LM24, LM6 | 20 g – 15 kg; walls from 1.2 mm | Covers, fan covers, terminal boxes and fans at volume |
| Gravity die casting | LM25, LM6 | 200 g – 25 kg; walls 3 – 15 mm | Heavier end shields and frames, lower volumes |
Indicative ranges, not guaranteed values for every geometry. Customer-specific alloys can be arranged on request.
Critical features
What matters on these parts, and how we check it
Machined in-house on CNC turning and VMC; critical diameters checked by air gauging on every part.
Cast rather than machined on HPDC, with draft and fin pitch reviewed at design review.
Flatness controlled at machining; leak testing arranged through a specialist partner where the drawing calls for it.
Rotary degassing checked by density index, and in-house X-ray where the part requires it.
Cast with consistent wall and checked for form before dispatch.
To quote this part
What helps us quote accurately
- Drawing or 3D model with bearing seat and spigot tolerances
- Frame sizes or variants that share a tool
- Annual quantity and call-off pattern
- Alloy, if specified, and any finish
- Existing tooling, if you are moving the part

Buyer questions
Common questions
Can you machine the bearing seats as well as cast the part?
Yes. Bearing seats, spigots and mounting faces are machined in-house on CNC and VMC machines, and critical diameters are air gauged, so you receive one finished part with one inspection record.
HPDC or gravity for an end shield?
It depends on size, wall thickness and volume. Thin-walled covers at volume usually suit HPDC; heavier end shields and frames often suit gravity casting. We recommend a process at quotation and explain why.
Do you supply painted or powder coated parts?
Yes, through a long-standing finishing partner, so parts can arrive ready to assemble.
